Day 24: The Day We Faced Taco Tico!

Every time we go to Walmart or to the church, we drive past a few businesses in town, but the one that has always intrigued us is Taco Tico. It always has seemed a little sketchy and maybe a little on the low quality end of food. So naturally, we wanted to try it!
Since today marks the last day of classes, we decided to celebrate with roommate night! Angela, Aubrey and I faced the fears of Taco Tico, and it turned out to be pretty good. It wasn't as bad as it looks or what our preconceived notions thought it would be! We had a ton of fun!!

(Angela made us this cool sign with our wonderful birthday gift of all the ingredients to have a perfect roomie night!) :)

Day 24: The Day There Was A Flute Concert

Today was very exciting. Not only was it the second to last day of classes, but it was the academic awards banquet and flute concert :) My family came down to see me and my sister, Aaryn, toured Ouachita today. Thank you to everyone who came to the concert- it meant the world! I felt calming to look out into the audience and see a row of people there to support me. God has blessed me with such wonderful friends and family!

The flute concert went really really well. As you can see from the picture, there was a contra-bass flute that played with us! We had every flute in the ensemble: piccolo, C flute, alto flute, bass flute, and contra-bass. So very exciting! I got the privilege of playing the piccolo with the flute choir backing me and of playing Maya, a flute duet, with Kristin. Love that amazing girl :)

May God bless your upcoming weekend. As Max Lucado says, "May we have no higher goal than to see someone think more highly of our Father, the King." Share His love everywhere you go- even if it's just through a simple smile and "hi" to a stranger in a parking lot.

Day 23: The Day The Kappas Serenaded, And A Request

One of the social clubs on campus (since we're a Baptist university we can't officially call them sororities or fraternities), the Kappa Chi, had a serenade tonight. My dad helped found the club, so the Kappas always tend to perk my interest, if that makes any sense at all. The Kappa Men sing quite well, and their serenade in front of our dorm was so fun to listen to from our window! The qualities of our pictures aren't the best, but you get the point. :)

I also have a request, as we're coming upon our last week of school, I think it would be fun to have a sort of "Hall of Fame" of Project 30. If you, our readers, could comment on this post or any others, or you can shoot us an email (brittanyfhs@yahoo.com), and let us know which day has been your favorite, I'd appreciate it. It doesn't matter if we know you or not, we just want your feedback. We're planning to somewhat continue the blog throughout the summer and possibly doing a Project 365 during our Junior year. :)

Thanks,

-Brittany

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Day 22: The Day We Taught Leon Our Cuisine

Today was just splendid. Brittany and I went to the last chapel and Dr. Horne spoke- he did an amazing job as always. We then went our separate ways today and were productive with school work, etc. Tonight was Carmina Burana and I played in the orchestra. It was such an awesome experience. I literally smiled thinking about how I was playing with amazing musicians and strings! Gah I just love strings. I can't wait until next semester when I start learning how to play them :) The concert choir did an amazing job and it all went off without a hitch!

So Brittany and I ended up wearing Ouachita garb tonight. Here we are posing as roomies!

We also taught Leon, the Pizza Shack chef, our cuisine. A little Sour Patch Kids and Taco Doritos is just what he needs in his diet!

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:12

A quote I loved and wrote down today from Dr. Horne's sermon was "God is so much bigger than that." Really gets you thinking and is so incredibly true!

Have a splendid Wednesday :)

Day 21: The Day We Were Silly With Our Blog

So forgive us for our lovely appearance in today's blog. Aubrey has been running all day long, and I was busy this evening, and were not together until about 10:30 tonight. We hadn't had time to think about Project 30, and we were about to give up and figure something out for tomorrow, when I decided we should just have a little photo shoot in our pj's. It took some convincing on Aubrey's part, but the outcome is as seen. Gotta love freshly showered girls that brush their teeth for ten minutes trying to get a good picture! :)

Aubrey and I both sleep with stuffed animals in our beds...My raccoon (tribute to my high school mascot) is named Gregory, and Aubrey's dog is named Peanut. :) We thought we'd introduce them into the blog world. :)

Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,"

Day 20: The Day We Cleaned The Tanks

Today was a lovely Sunday. Brittany and I both went to church and have been working on homework. Tonite we both decided it was time to clean out our fish tanks, so we "dove" in! You may be a bit perplexed if you read our previous day when we bought the fish and had them pictured in tiny bowls. . . so let me update you. Brittany's bowl was slightly smaller than mine, so she decided she was going to get a bigger one at Walmart. When she returned she had an awesome fish tank. My fish were then jealous, of course- any fish would be looking at a lit tank complete with a bubble filter :) I ended up making a Walmarty run myself and buying Buster and Camille their own tank like Bert and Ernie's. Now our fish live in happy, bigger homes :)

Day 19: The Day It Was Saturday

This is the first problem that Project 30 has encountered. Aubrey went home this weekend for her birthday, while I stayed at school. We thought about different ideas for how we could do today's blog. Our first idea was to take a picture of something both of us were doing, like both of us brushing our teeth, but while Aubrey did exciting things with her family, I did homework. So we just decided to get a picture of each of us from what we did today.

Aubrey got the chance to see her beautiful sister, Aaryn, off to prom with the boyfriend, Houston! I'm sure they had a fun time!! :)

My day was filled with counseling projects and dinner with friends. After dinner, as a "study break," Angela and I walked down by the gazebo to take a few pictures of our beautiful campus and enjoy talking on the 'porch swing.'

What a lovely Saturday!

Day 18: The Day Aubrey Turned 20

Today was my 2oth birthday :) I woke up and went and got donuts with my sweet roommates Brittany, Angela, and Rebecca. None of them had class until 9, yet they were willing to get up at 7 am to go with me since I had to teach at the high school at 8 am. How ultimately sweet is that? When I went out to my car they had even decorated it!!! They had written on the windows and filled it with presents and balloons. You guys are AMAZING!

I ended up getting to come home for my birthday this weekend. I met my family, my sister's boyfriend Houston, and my best friend Kali at Mellow Mushroom in Fayetteville- AmAzInG place :) I have such wonderful family and friends! Thank you everyone for making my day eXtra special!!!

I got some really cool gifts, but the "biggest" of them all was the iPhone. I am super STOKED! I always have said that I didn't want one, but I changed my mind recently and boy am I glad that I did! I had NO idea what I was missing!!

THANK YOU EVERYONE! I am so incredibly blessed.

Day 17: The Day The Earth Was Celebrated

In honor of Earth Day today, we decided for Project 30 Days that we should go "hug a tree." No tree was actually hugged, but we did enjoy the tree and reading under it. Thanks Angela for the photoshoot!! Happy Earth Day! :)

He makes springs pour water into the ravines;
it flows between the mountains.
They give water to all the beasts of the field;
the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
The birds of the air nest by the waters;
they sing among the branches.
He waters the mountains from his upper chambers;
the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work. He makes grass grow for the cattle,
and plants for man to cultivate—
bringing forth food from the earth

Day 16: The Day We Ate at The Shack

Today was a wonderful, busy day. The weather was gorgeous and classes went well for the both of us. Tonite I had a little get together for my birthday that is this Friday ( I will be 20 like Brittany, too! Eeeek! ). A big group of us went to Pizza Shack and got ice cream. Me and a large chunk of us got the "Birthday Surprise." I felt pretty much obligated, but besides that it was AMAZING :) Brownie, cake batter ice cream, sprinkles, and chocolate syrup, I think it was!

Kristin and I had fun doing the tango :)

AND the most exciting part of the evening was the fact that I got to take the Pizza Shack chef HOME!!!! Holy Moses gang green I CAN'T contain my excitement! I was taking a picture with it, and the owner flat out gave it to me! He said he didn't like it anyway and that it was my birthday present :)

Thank you for coming everyone :) I've already had a great birthday and it hasn't even happened yet!

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. Job 8:21

Day 15: The Day My Parents Came!

Today, my parents came in today for the Prism concert. The concert went really well, and it was great to have the parents at the concert. It was a just a wonderful time! I'm so glad that they got to come and that I got to see them!

[To explain this picture, my parents gave me my birthday gifts yesterday afternoon when they got in. Dad gave me a Madame Alexander Doll. He has given me one each year since I was 1. The year I turned 18 was supposedly the last year that I was to get one...I guess not since he completely surprised me with Polly, who put the kettle on. :) Thanks Dad!!]

Day 14: The Day We Had A Swing

Today was a busy day for the both of us. Brittany and I went our separate ways all day until band rehearsal for the Prism Concert tomorrow night (EEK!) and then dinner. We had supper with Travis and Alex and then headed down to the Ouachita River and gazebo to enjoy each other's company and the beautiful weather God provided. We are learning that is SO important to take time each day to just stop and relax. No matter how much is going on, it is important to "be still", see what God is saying, and have a little fun. One might even say we had a little TOO much fun with a swing, wildflowers, and camera (as always!).

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

Pslams 62:1-2

Hope you all had happy Mondays :)
